b.      Florida prisoners cannot motion the courts for post conviction DNA testing to prove their innocence!

c.       The California Department of Corrections Health System is in Federal Receivership!

d.      Families of people in prison are forced to used expensive telephone service to stay in touch (i.e., $20 for a 15 minute call)!

e.       US District court Judge John S. Martin Jr (appointed by the first Pres Bush) announced his retirement from the bench rather than remain part of “a sentencing system that is unnecessarily cruel and rigid”.  Reader’s Digest, Oct 2005
